Sherlock is better than Elementary?

Elementary:

Sherlock Holmes is a sociopath tattooed, that he doesn't wear the cape but tight T-shirts.
Holmes doesn't live yet in Victorian London, but he transferred to New York. He's working as a homicide consultant. There is even, which is a former alcoholic - cocaine addict just released from a rehabilitation institute, a staff between Morgan and Keith Richards.

But Dr. John Watson, a former medical officer in the Boer War is transformed into a social worker, "Joan Watson"; and this is played by Lucy Liu, the Chinese of Charlie's Angels, well, it seems a little forced.
Yet Elementary, the CBS series created by Rob Doherty based on the adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

For example, it is delicious Sherlock, the BBC mini series, set in England today where the hero, he used Twitter and the iPhone and Watson was a veteran of Afghanistan.

But the Sherlock of Elementary is a hero strident with the original model. That, in practice it is a kind of The Mentalist and Desperate Housewife combined. Cute, but I do not understand the connection with the myth of Sherlock Holmes.
